Inger Döhl
I was born and raised in Malung, Dalarna. Took classes in oil panting during my early teenage years and painted most animal motifs with Bruno Liljefors as a model. Then I didn´t touch a brush for 30 years. Some years ago painting came into my life again and then it was painting with water colour that attracted me. I have attended short classes in painting with water colour, for example at Gerlesborg but I see myself as an autodidact. Water colour painting is something very special, difficult but thrilling! It is very fast work and you never know what the result will be.
The Icelandic landscape and the Iceländic culture have enchanted me for more than 25 years and I have visited the country 11 times, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. Spitzbergen is also a place that fascinates me a lot and locker to different interpretations. .
It is not foremost copies of the landscape of Iceland and Spitzbergen I try to capture but my aspiration is to create pictures which the spectators may interpret from his own inner landscape. .
My aspiration is not to make pictures which immediately can be understood, but the spectator will be able to discover something new at every watching.
The old Iceländic poetry like for example Voluspa and Havamal gives me intense inspriation just as the Iceländic sagas.
